About One UMI

One mission. Restoring the whole person.

A Florida-based international humanitarian nonprofit serving communities in Latin America through a holistic model of mind, body, and spirit.

Our Story

One United Missions International, Inc. — commonly known as One UMI (formerly Unspoken Missions, Inc.) — is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity registered as a non-profit corporation in the State of Florida. We are dedicated to the holistic principles of early Christianity, believing that true ministry must serve the whole person — spirit, mind, and body.

Our core purpose is to bridge compassionate resources with international communities in need through holistic, relational short-term humanitarian missions and ongoing support structures. Operating primarily in Latin America and the Caribbean, we partner with established local leaders in Guatemala and El Salvador to facilitate action-oriented mission experiences.

We are moving away from dependency-driven aid toward empowered, collaborative partnerships — focusing on sustainable community development, medical assistance, weekly virtual clinics, and infrastructure support that continues long after our teams return home.

Mission

To bridge compassionate resources with international communities in need through holistic, relational short-term humanitarian missions and ongoing support structures — serving the whole person in mind, body, and spirit.

Vision

To see communities across Latin America and the Caribbean transformed — body, mind, and spirit — through empowered, collaborative partnerships rooted in discipleship and the love of Christ.

Core Values

What guides us.

Holistic Care

We address the whole person — mind, body, and spirit — because true restoration is never partial.

Dignity

Every person we serve is treated with respect, honor, and the love of Christ.

Sustainable Impact

We build local capacity through education and discipleship, not dependency.

Transparency

We steward every gift with integrity and open accountability.

The Holistic Model

Mind. Body. Spirit. Together.

Our approach is holistic, built on three pillars delivered through a discipleship model of small groups, teaching, and shared practices.

Mind

Education, teaching, mentorship, and community development.

Body

Mobile health clinics, physical care, and humanitarian aid.

Spirit

Christian discipleship, hope, and spiritual care.

Standards of Excellence

Held to a higher standard.

As a young organization, One UMI voluntarily holds every short-term mission to the Standards of Excellence in Short-Term Mission (SOE) — the authoritative framework established through MissionExcellence/MissionWorks that defines best practices for organizations sending short-term mission teams.

We are pursuing formal SOE accreditation as we grow. Until then, these seven core standards are the benchmark we measure ourselves against — keeping our work God-centered, partner-honoring, and built for lasting fruit.

01

God-Centeredness

Everything begins and ends with God's glory. Trips and initiatives prioritize His kingdom first through sound doctrine, persistent prayerful dependence, and methods designed to bear spiritual fruit rather than focusing primarily on tourism, tasks, or metrics.

02

Empowering Partnerships

Building healthy, interdependent, and ongoing relationships between sending organizations and receiving global partners — honoring and serving the intended local receivers rather than treating them as passive recipients.

03

Mutual Design

Outreach is planned with local hosts, not for them. Both sending and receiving parties collaborate so efforts align with local needs, long-term strategies, and the mutual benefit of everyone involved.

04

Comprehensive Administration

Back-end integrity, including truthful promotion, transparent financial management, robust risk management, and reliable logistical support.

05

Qualified Leadership

Team leaders are thoroughly screened, trained, and spiritually mature — competent, organized, and committed to servant leadership that empowers others.

06

Appropriate Training

Participants receive timely, practical, and biblical preparation before, during, and after the field experience, fostering cultural humility and operational readiness.

07

Thorough Follow-Through

The mission doesn't end when the team returns home. Comprehensive debriefing, personal evaluation, and structured follow-through for both goers and hosts process experiences and prevent negative emotional or spiritual fallout.
