A Note on Our First Year
One United Missions International was recently registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The live totals above reflect every gift received since launch — our public financial tracking begins here. Two figures appear on this page, and they measure different things: organization-wide, our committed target is that 70¢ of every dollar given reaches programs; per trip, 83¢ of each $1,500 trip fee goes directly to the field. We're building the systems to report against the organization-wide standard as our first teams deploy in 2027. We're showing you the numbers anyway, because transparency starts on day one. Billie Jo Wilhelm is serving as Interim Treasurer while we recruit an independent Treasurer from outside the founding family.

Per Trip

Figures show how each $1,500 trip fee is budgeted. Airfare is not included.
Per Trip Fee · The Other 17%
Where the rest goes — and why.
Of each $1,500 trip fee, $250 — 16.7% — sits outside the 83¢ and keeps the mission legally alive and financially sound. The $200 in the lower group is already counted inside the 83¢, not added on top of it.
Outside the 83¢ · $250
16.67%
Organizational Overhead · $250
Keeps the nonprofit legally alive — 501(c)(3) compliance, state charitable registrations, annual Form 990 filings, and financial oversight. Without it, we can't legally operate or receive tax-deductible gifts.
Inside the 83¢ · $200
6.67%
Deployment Logistics · $100
Background checks, international mission insurance, and pre-trip training materials. This is risk management — it protects the team, the communities we serve, and the organization from liability.
6.67%
Team Identity & Unity · $100
Branded team gear and one team-building meal. A unified, identifiable team builds trust with host communities and partners, and group cohesion improves the quality of service on the ground.
Deployment logistics and team identity are counted inside the 83¢ because they support field work directly: insurance and background checks protect the team on the ground, and unified team gear builds trust with host communities. No line on this page is counted twice.

Founder's Statement
Every dollar answers to the people we serve.
We started One UMI because we've seen what happens when aid organizations lose sight of the people behind the numbers. So we made a simple commitment: if we can't show you exactly where your money goes, we don't deserve it.
No hidden overhead. No inflated salaries. No vague "program expenses." Every line item on this page is real, and it's the same breakdown we use internally. The 70¢ of every dollar given that reaches the field is the number we live by — and we're working to push it higher.
If you ever have a question about our finances that this page doesn't answer, write to us directly. We'll answer it personally.

Governance
Who governs One UMI.
One United Missions International is governed by a volunteer board of directors that meets quarterly, reviews the annual budget, and holds final authority over the organization's finances, programs, and leadership. Board members serve without compensation, and our bylaws set the terms and structure of that governance.

Governance Policies
Our board has adopted a conflict-of-interest policy, a whistleblower policy, a document retention and destruction policy, and a gift acceptance policy, in line with what the IRS expects of a 501(c)(3). Our bylaws, board minutes, and these policies are available to any donor on request. Our exemption determination letter and each year's Form 990 will be published here as they are filed.
