Serve From Home

Licensed clinicians, serving the clinic without leaving home.

One UMI's virtual clinic connects licensed volunteers in the United States to our partners in Guatemala by video, for real patient visits alongside the in-country team.

01

Apply with your license

Your credentials, references and background check are reviewed the same way they are for a team on the field.

02

Claim a shift that fits

Shifts are posted with the role needed. Pick one, and it lands in your calendar in your own time zone.

03

See patients from home

Join the clinic video call from a private room and serve alongside the in-country team.

Where you would serve

Land of Hope, Escuintla, Guatemala.

Our clinic partner in Escuintla asked for help reaching patients who cannot travel to the clinic door. A virtual shift pairs you with the in-country physician and a translator, so patients are seen, treated and followed up inside a system that already knows them.

You do not need to travel, take time off work, or raise support. A shift is a few hours, and the clinic sets the schedule around the patients who need you.

Shown in your local time and Guatemala time, every time.

WHAT WE ASK OF YOU

An active, unrestricted license · a background check · a computer with a camera · reliable internet · a quiet, private room for patient visits.

Before you apply

The virtual care guidelines.

Every virtual volunteer agrees to these before their application is reviewed. They are short, and they are the reason a clinic in Guatemala can trust a clinician on a screen.

Apply to serve virtually

Virtual care guidelines 1. I will serve only within the scope of my license and my role on the shift, under the supervision of the in-country physician named by One UMI's clinic partner. 2. I will not give medical advice, prescribe, or record patient information outside the systems the clinic provides on the shift. 3. I will join from a quiet, private room, with no one else present who is not part of the clinic team, and I will wear professional attire as I would in person. 4. I will not photograph, record, or screen-share any patient. 5. I will not exchange personal contact details with a patient, and any follow-up goes through the clinic partner. 6. I will tell the shift lead immediately if my connection drops, if I must step away, or if a visit needs a clinician with different skills. 7. I understand a virtual shift is not a substitute for the credential, license and background checks the office completes, and that any of my details may be verified before a shift is confirmed. 8. I will cancel as early as I can if I cannot serve, and never later than the notice period the office sets.

Ready when you are.

The application takes about ten minutes. If you have served with One UMI before, most of it is already on file.
